This was the first blackbox show that I designed so I got to experience the differences of creating a set in a blackbox then the other sets I designed. This was also the first thespian show I designed. This set was very simple, only consisting of a hotel room and a bridge over a waterfall, but I focused a lot of my attention on the painting of the waterfall. I spent a lot of my days painting a huge 16 foot tall and 8 foot wide mural of the waterfall to help create a memorable expirence of the play.

Sketches

Since this was a smaller show with mostly set dressing, my sketch was focused on the layout of the hotel. I sketched how the floor would be built and what would be on it.

Painting

Most of my time painting was spent on the huge 16 foot tall waterfall that would be behind the bridge. This was a challenge for me but I am happy with how it turned out.

Final Photos

Here are the two finished pieces. The hotel and the waterfall + bridge.
